What is the process of trading Alaska Air Miles to British Airways? Can you do it online, and if so, where?
Do you need to do this with a travel agent or with Alaska Airline agents.
It has to be Alaska Airlines agents, not travel agents.
There are services which offer to trasfer mileage but at horrible “exchange rates”. Like several miles traded in for each one mile on a different airlines.
But BA and AS are mileage partners and you can book passage on BA with AS miles by calling AS’s “partner desk” at 1-800-307-6912, daily 5:00 a.m. to midnight (PT). You can’t do it on-line for BA flights, (although you can check availibility or book award travel on Alaska on-line)
An advantage of doing that is that any AS flights you need to complete the trip are included (I’ve flown relatives from London to Anchorage. BA to Seattle (or now Newark) and then AS the rest of the way).
P.S. “AS” comes from their old name, “Alaska Star Airlines”. AA is American Airlines.
