What are some top African American ski resorts?

Some friends and I are organizing a ski trip for December 2010. We are all African American, and we want to find a ski resort with other blacks involved. Could you please help us out?

I have never heard of an “African American ski resort,” so I don’t know what exactly you mean by that term. If you’re trying to find a place in the US that will have a good mix of people of different races, then pretty much any of the “big” resorts will do: Squaw Valley, Heavenly, Steamboat, Breckenridge, Vail, etc., etc., etc. They all host people from all over the country and the world.

But if you’re looking to find a resort that solely caters to the African American crowd, I’ve never seen it.

Edit: and to build on what Willie said, I can vouch for the fact that the major West Coast resorts; Squaw, Heavenly, Alpine Meadows, Steamboat, etc., have a very diverse group of people on the slopes. In my experience, Heavenly and Squaw especially are host to a number of Europeans and Japanese, as well as black people from the Bay Area and Los Angeles. You might also want to consider a trip to Mammoth Lakes – they get a lot of the L.A. crowd.
