What is the Best Eastern Caribbean Ship?
we want to go in December 2011, on an Eastern Caribbean 7 days cruise, i did a lot of Research but i’m still confused between the companies and their ships, the only ones i looked at so far are the Royal Caribbean and the Norwegian, do you recommend any of them or any other company like Holland America or Princess, and if you have extra information please help me choose like which ship in a certain company. and don’t tell me anything about Carnival.
I’m 25 Years old, that doesn’t like noise or clubs or sloppy behavior or drunk people to be around me, you said you never go with Norwegian or RC, why is that ?
Of those four, I would choose Holland, but that line isn’t right for everyone. It’s a line that demographically skews older and it is definitely quieter than the others. It’s very classy for a mass-market line and the food and service are very good.
I would never do Norwegian and probably wouldn’t consider RC either. Have never done Princess, but it might be a good compromise [although their coffee is said to be horrible, if that matters to you]. Carnival is actually a pretty good first cruise, if you can take the decor and relatively high activity and noise level. You don’t give any idea of your age, etc., so it’s hard to recommend anything, but Celebrity is also a very nice line. A bit more active than Holland, but still with the classy decor and the peace and quiet [no constant PA announcements that you'll get on the other lines - except Holland], for example, and the food and service are also very good.
You say you’ve done research, but you still sound confused about which line/ship might be right for you. Your library has books on cruising that should be helpful in giving a general idea of the different ships. You might also try CruiseCritic.com. Click on “Boards” and you’ll find any/every topic that has to do with cruising.
