Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Question – 10 points!?

I am leaving on a cruise in three days and I have a quick last minute question for people that have been on a cruise with Royal Caribbean before!

Royal Caribbean, like every other cruise line, x-rays EVERY bag before it’s loaded on the ship.
Bags that look like they contain a good-sized bottle of liquid in them are tagged. Most people who travel aren’t going to be bringing a full-sized bottle of mouthwash with them, so that’s suspicious.
Tagged bags are sent to a special room on the ship; they are not delivered to the stateroom. You get a notice or phone call that you have to go down to what has become known as “the naughty room” and open your suitcase in front of security so they can check it.
Technically, the contract of passage says that you cannot even bring water or soda on board, although they often look the other way. Technically, they can deny you passage for trying to smuggle alcohol on board; they could not let you board, or they could put you off the ship at the next port.
In reality, what they will do if they find alcohol in your baggage is confiscate it. If it’s in the original container, you might get it back at the end of the cruise. If it’s in something else, like a mouthwash bottle, you will not.
All cruise lines are more vigilant than usual during Spring Break times (which we’re in now). Having a requirement that someone in each cabin must be at least 21 has cut down on the number of college kids trying to have a wild spring break on board, but there are still a higher number of people that age on board, and they do try to smuggle.

I’d say – don’t bother.
