Honeymoon in a cruise in october, where is the best place that we wont get hit with a hurricane?
My fiance and I are trying to find a cruise to go on for our honeymoon next october and we were wondering which place is the safest and where we wont get hit from a hurricane. we were thinking; Hawaii, alaska, mexico, caribbeans,bahamas. Any feedback would be great! thanks
October is still hurricane season in the Caribbean. However, the cruise lines all have very sophisticated equipment and information and are well able to avoid any storms. You may not visit the scheduled ports [but that is always a possibility no matter the season] and you may have your cruise extended, thus making problems for flights home, etc.
The ABC islands [Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao] are supposedly out the hurricane zone, so cruises there might be a “safer” bet.
You can – and should – purchase trip insurance that covers the possible problems that would concern you. Read carefully for what is covered and what isn’t.
Hawaii would be a better bet as far as weather, but there are not as many choices there and, unless you sail with NCL’s “America” [which does not get good reviews] you’ll most likely have a longer cruise, departing and returning from the mainland. Mexico would also have fewer problems with storms, although they do get them at that time of the year. Those cruises have, I think, less-interesting ports of call.

If you click on “Reviews”, you’ll find pro and “Member Reviews” that are quite helpful. Click on “Cruise Styles” and you’ll find discussions of which ships/lines are most suitable for “romantic” or honeymoon cruising.
