Where would be a good place for me to go camping near Omaha, NE?
I want to go camping sometime in maybe late August or September. I want a place where I can just set up a tent & camp, and not have to rent a cabin, but I want there to be bathrooms/showers somewhere on the campground. I also want pretty scenery! I want this to be just a nice little one or two night getaway from the city. I want to watch sunrises & sunsets, go on hikes, and just enjoy nature.
If you know of any good places, please let me know! OH and also let me know what fees would be involved. Like if you have to pay to get in the park AND pay to put up a tent, or just pay to get in or what.

How far afield are you willing to go?
Platte River and Mahoney state parks have tent camping as well as cabins, as does Indian Caves. If you’re willing to drive further, I really love the Nebraska National Forest out by Halsey. It’s about 4-5 hours from Omaha and has a nice campground, some hiking trails, and a swimming pool, as well as beautiful Sandhills scenery and the forest, which is mostly Ponderosa pines.
