How much money should my family bring for Hawaii?
My family and me got to go on a make a wish trip, i wont get into the details, anyway he chose to go on a Hawaiian cruise that stops at the main islands, make a wish foundation will give us 250 dollars each there is 5 people in my family but we dont know how much we should bring extra plz help me
$250 per person is not a whole lot for excursions off the boat and buying souvenirs, and stuff. When I last went on a cruise, the meals and water was covered, but if you wanted soda or any other drinks, you had to use a cruise ship charge card and then you had to pay up at the end.
In addition, it was expected that you would tip your room steward, your table waiter (and his assistant if he has one). There wasn’t any preset amount but I seem to recall that $5 per a day, depending on the number of people in the cabin, plus the same per a person at the table for the waiter and a little less for the assistant waiter.
If the make-a-wish trip folks are only paying for the cruise but not excursions, you should check the cruise ship website and check out how much the excursions into town or the sites on the islands are, otherwise you’re going to be pretty much be stuck on the ship or within walking distance of the dock.
Personally, I would allow at least $20 per a person per a day just to be safe, and even then that might be a little bit low. Bear in mind that if you’re off the ship, you’ll be responsible for your own food and stuff (unless a meal is included in the off-ship excursion).
