When is the best time to go to Vegas for cheap flights and hotels?
in 2009 I went around Sept. and stayed at the Luxor for 3 nights. flight and hotel was just under $400. now I see that its nearly doubled that price. so what is a good time to go now?
Friday night, Saturday night, and holidays are always priced higher than Sunday thru Thursday. So that’s the first step to take: plan you trip for a Sunday or Monday arrival and leave before Friday night.

Many people have no clue about how much conventions influence prices. If 5,000 people are coming to a convention at Mandalay Bay on July 12, a room at Mandalay Bay (if they’re not sold out) will be outrageously overpriced. The CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in January pretty much sells out every hotel on the strip. So you have to avoid large conventions completely, and medium sized conventions near the specific hotel you plan to stay at. Convention goers tend to try to get a room at the hotel where the convention is located, or a nearby hotel.
Third, the time of year has some impact on prices. Winter and summer are generally less expensive than spring and fall in Las Vegas. Winter brings freezing temperatures and flash floods; summer brings 110 degree heat every day; so experienced travelers prefer the less extreme weather of April, May, October, November.
My favorite “sweet spot” is after the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is over, but before the Christmas holiday. It’s one of the least crowded times of year on the Las Vegas strip.
