From Richmond to New York City, why is a plane ticket cheaper than the train?
I’m going from Richmond Va to New York city in December and am trying to find the best way to get there. I found that I can fly for about $135/person after taxes and fees or I can take Amtrak for $200+/person. Does this seem right? Why is this? and can I find a cheaper flight or train ride than those? Thanks.
As another Richmonder $135 is a great deal. I presume AirTran or US Airways?
I don’t know why the train is more expensive, I find trains in general are way overpriced here, even compared to the UK!
