A TRIP TO AMSTERDAM!!!?
okay, now if you couldn’t guess I would like to take a trip to Amsterdam. I would like to take it not this summer but next summer 2011. I did a little research on cost but I would love a second opinion. So if you could tell me what the price would be for a 7 day trip.
i.e.
hotel(limit $100 a night, preferably close to coffee shops),
food($20 a meal),
Car (small four door with navigation system….cheaper the better)
coffee shops( average price)
Plane ticket (second class)
p.s. I would be flying from either San Antonio or Austin Texas, I understand that they might not have flights that far into the future so i would love a website that gives cheap flights (i.e. travelocity)
Hotels – there are so many – ranging from ‘aargh, terrible, but cheap’ – to ‘heaven on earth yet hellishly priced’ – You could consider a hostel, they are between US$40 and US$75 a night.

Food – see if you can find a hotel including breakfast. The rest – check out supermarkets etc.
For a restaurant – around Leidseplein you can find various cheap ones. US$ 20 a day is quite limited though – so that will mean supermarkets only.
Car – what for? If you are unfamiliar in the city- do not even think about this.
Parking: 3 hours, and your day budget for food is gone (in the center). Traffic is a nightmare, even for locals – and due to the perpetual construction driving in Amsterdam is not fun at all. (I know my way around the city, by car, but avoid it whenever i can).
For a cheaper rental outside the city – check with sixti.com – where you can rent one from US$ 10 a day (small car).
Coffee shops – if that is the reason for coming – don`t. We have enough addicts, we can do without another one – really.
Plane ticket – anywhere between US$250 and US$ 750, depending on carrier, day, time etc.
