Sailing /cruising/ Bahama’s?
I’m doing it! This winter we are taking our sailboat to the Bahama’s. We are mid twenties and looking for deserted islands where the fishing is good. We cant catch a single fish in the Chesapeake Bay, has anyone fished in the Bahamas and have good tips? Have other good tips regarding sailing in the bahamas? Regarding visa’s, check in, good islands, bad islands, cheapest islands?

Have cruised the Bahamas many yrs and have acreage on an Private Island in the Abacos some that I will be selling. It’s the best cruising ever.U need to look on line and down load all the Documents and follow there Guide line. There is no such thing a cheap in the bahamas as anything U want bring it with U cost is very high they have to import almost everything.Fishing Lobster and Conch are plentiful get a fishing permit when clearing in. All will need passports. Sailing hope your boat is under 5′ draft as the waters there are quite shallow is spots. Have a good dink that has lots of speed so U can travel around the Cays have the chart book. I have cruised all threw the Bahamas and like the Abacos best.Close to the USA if U need to come back for any reason. There are a couple of airports in the Abacos.and many islands to explore.November is the last of the storm season but then the Northern winds start and the weather get a bit ruff seas get ugly. So plan no time frame for anything as I have sat in anchorage of up to 10 days waiting for the weather to calm down.It’s an adventure U will never forget. I have a 48 Sportfish and will be heading over next May for the summer. Have fun.
