Cheap Alaskan Cruises

What is the best cruise line?

My husband are thinking about an Alaskan cruise next year for our anniversary (cruises are CHEAP right now). We will be going just the two us (no kids), we are in our late 30′s, it will be my first time to cruise, and we would like to depart from Los Angeles. Low key with lots of options sounds great! Any suggestions?

First of all very few cruises, with the exception of a repositioning cruise, leave from Los Angeles. In all probability you would have to fly from LA to either Seattle or Vancouver to joint the cruise although you can combine airfare and the cruise into one package. Most of the cruise lines operatin on the Alaska run are quite nice. I am a Royal Caribbean fan however a friend enjoys the Holland America ships. The question you have to answer is what type of cruise you are looking for and what is it you want to do. Royal Caribbean is a good middle of the road type line with a variety of activites available both on and off the ship. However most ships tend towards similar activities, the main difference is the age of the passengers they focus on. I would suggest either Royal Caribbean, Holland America, or Princess for your cruise or Celebrity if you want a bit more luxury.. Take some time to research what ships will be sailing the route, they change from year to year, and the facilities on them. A good travel agent can assist you in this and Vacationstogo.com has many of the cruises listed with good reviews of the individual ships.
