How to buy airline tickets departing outside your home country?
I am want to buy tickets (RTN to New Zealand) that depart from France but UK agenst/sites won’t sell them. In addition I was looking at outbound from LHW return to Paris but no one will sell that either. Any tips for decent websites would be appreciated
It’s not that agents won’t sell them, they can’t. UK travel agents are restricted by airline contracts – they are only given contracts by the airlines to sell flights from UK airports. The only way they could sell you a flight departing from outside the UK is if they sold you a full published fare, which would be non-discounted and very expensive.
Your best bet is to find a French based online agency or to look at airline websites. Buying directly from the airline will usually be more expensive than dealing with an agent, but you could try the following –

And by LHW do you mean London Heathrow (LHR)? Because I don’t understand why you would have a problem with that – you should be able to get flights on numerous websites to coincide with your NZ flights. However, if you do mean Lanzhou Airport in China, you will need to go via an international hub such as Beijing.
