Cruise Along the Blue Danube
You can create your own tales from along the blue Danube River, the longest in Europe by taking a Danube River Cruise. The Danube River originates in Germany and flows to the Black Sea.

Regensburg – a beautiful old German city that is considered one of Europe’s best preserved medieval cities. You will find a maze of narrow streets containing fine old houses, shops and museums. Highlights of Regenburg include the impressive St. Peter’s Cathedral with it’s enormous painted frescos, the 12th century Old Stone Bridge and Rathahaus (town hall). The castle dominates the city can be partly visited as well. .
Passau – this is where three rivers join together creating one of the most beautiful towns in Europe. The old city center which is located between the blue Danube River and Inn River is very compact and easy to easy around. The renaissance town hall is especially noteworthy for the great chamber dating from 1405 with paintings by Ferdinand Wagner (19th century) with the tower clock (glockenspiel) playing daily for visitors.
The highlight of Passau is St. Stephen. The current cathedral is regarded as the largest religious baroque building north of the Alps. Especially noteworthy for the world’s largest pipe organ and where you can enjoy weekday concerts.
Melk – the Benedictine Abbey of Melk built in 1702-38 is the crowing glory of this little village with the marble chamber contains some outstanding ceiling frescoes.
Wachau – the Austrian wine area and most scenic section of the Danube River. On your Danube cruise be sure to try the local white wines, which are excellent.
Durnstein – The most outstanding feature of this hilly village located in the Wachau region is the Maria Himmelfahrt Abbey Church, with its blue and white tower best seen from your river cruise ship. You will want to explore the charming shops.
Krems – this is a university town stretched out for miles along the river so begin by the old city gate built in 1480 and walk along the pedestrian street lined with cafes and shops. I recommend you stop in the courtyard of the Hotel Alte Post built in1584 for a drink and to soak up the atmosphere.
