what kind of food on a cruise?
For people that have been on a cruise, particularly Princess Cruises, what kind of food do they serve? My parents are going to be going on a cruise and it is their first time. They have very asian tastes and worry about the food. Does anyone know if there is rice?
Also what do you have to pay for when you are onboard? Do you have to pay for your own drinks, like water?
Some cruise lines will work with you for special dietary restrictions– ie. kosher or vegetarian. There is usually a wide variety of foods to chose from so I am sure they will find something good to eat. They can also make this a time to learn about new and different foods. I do remember some rice at meals so I am sure that they can request rice to be served.
Most drinks are free except for fizzy drinks (soda) or alcohol.
Many ships have a free drink station somewhere on the main deck, filled with juices, water, tea, coffee, etc. You just help yourself.
Almost everything is included in the price of the trip except specials like internet service, spa services, excursions. They should bring enough for tips for their cabin girl/boy, waiters, etc. An online search will give them ballpark figures for who to tip and how much.
