Please recommend routes and places to visit for an Alaska vacation?
Please recommend routes and places to visit for a 10-day vacation to Alaska and North Pole. I will leave from and come back to Boston. Travel time will be included in the 10 days. All suggestions are appreciated!
When in Alaska, if you see nothing else, make sure you visit Denali. It’ll probably cost you about $20-25 but it is well worth it. If you want to go more than a few miles into the park, you’ll have to catch a bus since there is a serious conservation thing going on there. The Matanuska galcier is also quite a sight even if only from the highway. I believe that you can pay to see it up close and personal if you like. It is somewhere between Anchorage and Tok. Tok is a nice little town if you just want to relax with the locals. Anchorage’s downtown area is also a nice place to walk around. If you travel from Anchorage towards Seward, make sure to keep an eye out for cliff climbing goats. Also, stop at the information booths and or gas stations and ask where good hiking spots are. If you want to get REALLY adventurous, take a trip on Alaska’s Marine Highway (its a very large ferry that will take you to the places where roads don’t reach and you can take your vehicle with you). I didn’t find much to do in Fairbanks while I was there, but then again, I was just passing through. Good Luck!
