When do air fares go up?
I had a trip planned to Mexico this March 17-25. I had to cancel the tickets and now use the credit before Feb 20, 2011. The next time I have vacation time is in June but it gets extremely hot in Sinaloa MX, then again in November and December. When does air flare go up? I heard that in Winter and Summer they do. But if I book now will the prices be higher compared to if I book in November??? I’m so confused!!!
There are two different things going on here, date/time of flight, and date/time of purchase.
For time of flight: What season, day of week, and time of day it is cheap/expensive to fly varies by route. In general, from cold places to warm places it is expensive in the winter.
For time of purchase: Fares on any particular flight on any particular date can (and do) go up (or down, but more often up) at any time of day, on any day, and may change more than once in the same day.
