Has anyone ever gone on Global Leadership Adventures trips?
I am trying to convince my parents to go. Is it anything like the Rustic Pathways trips where people bring friends or can you go on your own?
Hello,
My name is E-J and I went on a three week service trip to Ghana with Global Leadership Adventures (GLA) in July 2010. I can honestly say that it was the most enlightening and amazing experience I have encountered so far! I considered Rustic Pathways when I was looking for a service trip, and I am so glad that I chose GLA. There programmes are so future forward, and the amount of service we all did whilst we were there, really had us immersed within the Ghanaian culture. If you are interested in doing a lot of community service and meeting phenomenal friends, mentors and local people I would suggest you go on a trip with GLA.
You can most definitely bring friends, I went with my best friend and we made even more memories.
A lot of programmes encourage that you come with no friends however I think it depends on what type of person you are and whether you are willing to meet new and exciting people.
Speaking from experience I can say that everyone’s (including my own) were a bit skeptical about sending their child half way around the world (for some) so if you need me to speak with them I would be happy to do so. I’ll make sure I put some exerts of what my parents thought before I went, and what they think now.
Have you showed your parents these links?

Here is also a facebook group you can go on to talk with previous students or get further information about GLA.
I hope this was helpful!
